Benchmark Your Building
San Luis Obispo County now provides free benchmarking services to commercial utility customers interested in tracking energy usage and investments in energy efficiency.
What is Benchmarking?
Benchmarking is the process of comparing building energy performance to others using factors such as building size, type, energy consumption, operational hours, and climate. An interactive tool called ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager helps to achieve this and allows you to track and assess energy and water consumption for your building. Whether you own, manage, or hold properties for investment, Portfolio Manager can help you set investment priorities, identify under-performing buildings, and verify efficiency improvements.
Why is it Important?
Starting July 1, 2013 owners of non-residential buildings in California will be required to disclose energy benchmarking data during real estate transactions. Visit www.energy.ca.gov/ab1103 for more information.
